Accelerate Your Success With a Network Marketing Mentor
Garth C Reynolds asked:
In network marketing, as well as anything in life, there are those who came before you and have been successful. Why thrash your way through the jungles of online marketing when you can follow their steps and shorten your road to success? Finding a mentor can provide you with a clear path to success and accelerate your learning curve.
Even if you are an experienced marketer, a mentor can bring you to the next level. Think about this, Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan both have coaches. The top performers in their given sport, even at the height of their dominance, still have coaches. Having a second set of eyes focused on your performance is a powerful tool that will help you stay focused and on track.
Here are some questions to ask yourself when looking for a mentor:
Who are the leaders in your primary business? Who are the leaders in the industry? Who has given you great advice or training on how to grow your business? Who have other leaders or marketers cited as having a big impact on their success?
A good mentor may challenge your current assumptions of what you can do and what you think is possible. An experienced mentor will provide you with a model of success to emulate, show you the skills of the trade and take your current skills up to the next level.
Spending time with them and seeing how they work will give you a strong example to follow. They will push you to go beyond your comfort zone and explore opportunities you may have overlooked.
Successful people have a positive outlook and a can do attitude. That is why they are successful. A mentor will feed your energy, keeping you motivated to build your business. The company you keep will help determine your mindset and your potential for success. Through your associations with motivated and accomplished mentors and business leaders, you will gain credibility by being associated with success. Some of the buzz of these leaders will rub off on you. People will see you as a mover and shaker and be attracted to you and your business.
Having a mentor also provides an opportunity to connect with other students on the same journey you are. Valuable contacts and possible joint ventures may result from the contacts you make.
But don’t forget, you must also be a good student. Just like a good athlete, you must be coach-able. This means sometimes putting your head down and doing what your coach asks of you. If you constantly question and challenge everything your mentor tells you, you are not being a good student. In some ways, you are giving yourself over to them. You need to have full trust in their ability and be able to relinquish some of the headstrong qualities that have gotten you this far…at least as you learn the ropes.
